Your health is influenced by more than food alone. Nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, environment, and daily habits all interact to shape how you feel and function.
The goal of functional nutrition counseling is not to create dependence on a practitioner, but to help you develop awareness, tools, and confidence to make informed choices about your own health.
At KiStones, I take a personalized, whole-person approach to nutrition counseling. Rather than starting with generic recommendations, we begin by understanding your unique history, current challenges, goals, and lifestyle. Together, we identify practical, sustainable strategies to support your wellness and help you build the foundations for lasting change.
Food and nutrient focused
Often addresses a specific nutritional goal
May use standardized recommendations

Can provide a structured nutrition plan
Traditional nutrition asks:
“What does your diet need?”
Whole-person focused
Explores the why behind symptoms and patterns
Individualized to the person
Considers food, digestion, lifestyle, stress, sleep, and other influences
Looks at connections between body systems
Emphasizes why your body may be responding the way it is
Builds understanding and sustainable skills
Functional nutrition asks:
“What does your body need?”
This program is yours, not a standard approach designed for everyone. My role is to educate you so you can make more informed decisions about your food, lifestyle, and health. You’ll learn to listen to the signals your body is giving you and use that information to guide your choices. No counting calories or excessive lab testing—just a thoughtful, personalized approach to food and sustainable change.
The Foundational Wellness Assessment
Every new nutrition client begins with a Foundational Wellness Assessment - a comprehensive assessment designed to create a detailed picture of you! This in-depth process allows us to explore the many factors that influence your health and identify areas where nutrition and lifestyle strategies may support your goals.
The Foundational Wellness Assessment is a deep dive into the factors that may be influencing your current health and well-being, including:
Nutrition patterns and dietary habits
Health history and timeline
Digestion and gut health
Sleep and stress patterns
Lifestyle factors
Current goals
The process includes:
Initial Consultation - Timeline Session (60 minutes)
We discuss your health history, concerns, and current lifestyle to map out factors impacting your health. After your initial consultation, we will schedule your follow-up session together.
Personalized Review & Analysis (60-90 minutes)
I carefully review your information, create a timeline of your health history, map out a functional matrix of all the factors at play and prepare individualized recommendations based on your needs.
Follow-Up Consultation - Nutrition Counseling (60 minutes)
We discuss findings, recommendations, and next steps to create an actionable plan.
This comprehensive process allows us to move beyond surface-level recommendations and create a thoughtful starting point for your wellness journey.
After you book an appointment, I will send you forms to complete about your health history. As this is an in depth fact finding mission, there are multiple questionnaires that zoom in on different body systems. Please allow yourself a few hours to go through all the forms. Additionally, I will ask you to journal about your dietary habits for five days prior to our meeting so appointments cannot be made within five days of today's date.
